Racine
Artist: Racine
There are 2 bands under the name of Racine

The first is fronted by Wendy James. Wendy James is a singer/songwriter best known for her lead singing role in the late 80’s pop band Transvision Vamp.

In 1993 she released her first solo album, containing songs written for her by Elvis Costello, “Now Ain’t The Time For Your Tears”. It was not a commercial or critical success, and she was soon dropped by her record company.

In 2004, Wendy James resurfaced, fronting Racine and released Racine No. 1, on which she performs all instruments, via Pia-K Recordings, her own label. Racine has since expanded to a 5-piece group, and a second album, Racine No.2, is imminent, as is a tour. Wendy James now resides in New York City.

The second are a Leeds based band composed of singer and guitarist brothers Ben and Jonny Crowther with bassist Mark Brown and drummer Danny O’Grady.

They have been together for around three years, juggling day jobs with a busy schedule of gigs from London to the Scottish Islands.

Their music combines indie with folk/rock. Their influences include Ryan Adams, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Gram Parsons, Neil Young, The Verve, the Boss, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, BRMC, Dandy Warhols, Gram Parsons, Johnny Cash and Embrace.
Genre(s): Dance
