K2 is a name that has been used multiple times. (1) was a Serbian duo in 1990s, formed by Aleksandra and Kristina Kova? (2) is a progressive rock band based in LA but featuring international members. (3) is a Polish nu-metal band. (4) is a Japanese Noise artist also known as Kimihide Kusafuka or K. Kusafuka. (5) was a german DJ-Group, that became famous with their Song “Der Berg ruft!” in 1994.(6) is the name of the short-living House/Techno project of Kärtsy Hatakka, lead singer of Waltari. (7) The first version of (1) was founded by their father, Kornelije Kova?, while he was working in London.
K2 (1) released few very succesful singles and albums in 1990s, in 1998. sisters split and continued solo careers. Aleksandra Kovac won MTV Europe Music award in 2006. for Best Adriatic act. Kristina works as a producer and songwriter.
K2 (2) was formed in 2001 by bassist Ken Jaquess of the band Atlantis. He is joined by Doug Sanborn (drums), Allan Holdsworth (guitar), Ryo Okumoto (keyboards, of Spock’s Beard), Shaun Guerin (vocals), and Yvette Devereaux (violin). The name of the band is often written with the 2 in superscript. An Egyptian-themed album called Book of the Dead was released in 2005. For touring, Holdsworth is replaced by Karl Johnson (also formerly of Atlantis); Guerin died after the sessions, and Josh Gleason of the waiting room takes his place.
